Chapter five - Movie night
Niall’s POV
“Where do I start? I guess at the beginning, huh?” I laugh nervously. Louis and Harry are sitting opposite me, concerned expressions on their faces, trying to figure out what it is I want to talk to them about. Niether says a word. I fidget a bit.
“Well,” I continue nervously, figuring there’s no point in dragging the moment out any longer, “two days ago I was making tea and I discovered that I was out of sugar…”
Harry frowns slightly, as if he isn’t quite sure what this has to do with anything, and Louis raises his eyebrow. Before either of them can question where my story is going, I force myself to speak again, growing more nervous by the second.
“Anyway, I thought I could borrow some sugar from you guys,” I glance quickly between them before lowering my gaze to the table, “so I came over here. I knocked, but there was no answer. Then, I tried the door handle, and the door was open, so I came in.
I shift in my seat, uncomfortable beneath the collective weight of their gazes. I wonder how long it will take them to put it all together; will I have to spell it out for them, or will they just know?
“I called for you guys, but nobody answered, which I thought was kind of strange, you know? But I went to get the sugar, anyway,” my voice is getting quieter by the second; I see Harry lean forward out the corner of my eye, straining to hear my words, “and then I heard… something…. a muffled banging…..”
